Remarkable Point Frederick – A Walk Through Canadian History – Wednesday April 24 2024

On Wednesday, April 24, there will be a premiere of the video ‘Remarkable Point Frederick – A Walk Through Canadian History’.

Members may recall that in 2022, the FHF was successful in obtaining funding from the City of Kingston Heritage Fund to assist Dr. Robert Banks in publishing his book ‘Warriors and Warships: Conflict on the Great Lakes and the Legacy of Point Frederick’.

In the fall of 2022, Bob conducted a fascinating walking tour of the Point. A book launch was held in February 2023 at City Hall to celebrate Heritage Week.

Then in the fall last year, Foundation members Sue Bazely and Bob Banks were interviewed by David McCallum of Lightstruck Film and Media for a video to record a walking tour of the point. The newly finished 23-minute video combines historical images along with drone imagery by Darren Keuhl of Razor Aerial Productions. The video will give you a look back in time to life on Point Frederick before the Royal Military College was established.

There will be two showings at the Screening Room, 120 Princess Street, the first starting at 3 p.m., and the second at 4 p.m. We are asking you to sign up through Eventbrite (at no cost) so that we can track the number of people attending. Space is limited and the event will be opened to the public so Foundation members are being given a bit of a headstart on signing up.
Here is the link.

Both Sue and Bob will be present to introduce the video and answer questions.  The kind folks from Novel Idea will be present to sell books, and Bob will be available to sign them.
