The Royal Military Colleges Alumni Association is proud to celebrate the promotion of Brigadier-General Cathy Blue, RMC alumna and former Director of Cadets, who was promoted to her current rank on 28 July 2026 by the Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force, Lieutenant-General Speiser-Blanchet.
As she assumes the responsibilities of Director General Canadian Forces Grievance Authority (DGCFGA), BGen Blue brings with her decades of distinguished service, exceptional leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the people of the Canadian Armed Forces.
A Communications and Electronics (CELE) officer, BGen Blue has built an impressive career spanning operational, instructional, staff, and strategic leadership appointments across the CAF and RCAF. Her service has included key roles with 7 Communications Group, 8 Air Communications and Control Squadron, 8 Mission Support Squadron, the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics, the Canadian Forces College, the Royal Military College of Canada, and RCAF Headquarters.
For many members of the RMC community, however, she will be remembered most fondly for her time as Director of Cadets, where she played a pivotal role in developing the next generation of military leaders. In that role, she exemplified the values of Truth, Duty, and Valour, guiding officer cadets through some of the most formative years of their professional development. Her leadership style, characterized by integrity, professionalism, and a genuine investment in the success of others, left a lasting impact on countless graduates.
Throughout her career, BGen Blue has earned a reputation as a thoughtful advisor, trusted leader, and consummate professional. Whether mentoring future officers, shaping institutional policy, or advising senior leaders, she has consistently brought strategic insight, sound judgment, and an unwavering dedication to excellence.
Her promotion to Brigadier-General is not only a reflection of her remarkable accomplishments but also of the confidence that the institution places in her ability to lead at the highest levels. As she assumes responsibility for the Canadian Forces Grievance Authority, she will continue to serve Canadians and members of the Defence Team with the same professionalism and integrity that have defined her career.
