Crista‑Lynn’s professional journey began with a strong academic foundation at the CMC’s, where she earned an engineering degree that would shape both her technical expertise and her leadership approach. The interdisciplinary rigor and operational mindset fostered at the CMC’s prepared her to navigate complex systems, lead diverse teams, and support mission‑critical operations throughout her career.
Following graduation, she served for ten years in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Marine Systems Engineering Officer, where she was responsible for the mechanical and electrical systems aboard a 5,000‑tonne warship. This early operational experience laid the groundwork for a career defined by problem‑solving, accountability, and service to Canada.
Crista‑Lynn’s career would continue to evolve across both military and civilian domains. She worked in the private sector in the United Kingdom as an engineer supporting the UK military, where her combined mechanical and electrical expertise enabled her to resolve a long‑standing propulsion system issue affecting a class of warships, delivering a practical, low‑cost solution that prevented recurrence. Moments like these, she has noted, remain among the most professionally rewarding of her career.
Returning to Canada, Crista‑Lynn entered the federal public service, holding senior engineering, technical management, and leadership roles with National Defence and the Canadian Coast Guard. As Director of Technical Management for the Coast Guard, she oversaw complex programs and supported large operational organizations—always with a focus on enabling people and mission success.
In 2024, Crista‑Lynn was appointed Director General, Fighter Capability with the Royal Canadian Air Force, a role of significant national importance. In this position, she is responsible for preparing and operationalizing Canada’s future fighter capabilities, including the transition to the F‑35. Her work directly supports Canada’s defence readiness and sovereignty, including addressing the challenges posed by the country’s vast geography and “tyranny of distance.”
