Donate by Stock Transfer
In order to start the Share Transfer, the RMC Alumni Association will need to know the name of the intended share/stock and the estimated quantity. Once this is approved by our Treasurer, our staff will send you or your broker the share transfer instructions to complete the transfer on your end.

Benefits of Donating Shares
Eliminate Capital Gains Tax: When you donate securities directly to a charity (in-kind), you don’t pay tax on the capital gain, which you would if you sold them first.
Significant Tax Receipt: You receive a donation receipt for the full fair market value of the shares on the date of donation, allowing for a larger charitable tax credit.
Larger Gift for Charity: The charity receives the full value of your gift, making a greater impact.
Eligibility and Requirements
Publicly Traded Securities: The most common and effective gifts are publicly traded stocks, bonds, or mutual funds.
Non-Registered Accounts: These securities must be in a non-registered investment account (not an RRSP, RRIF, or TFSA).
Certified Capital Property: Other eligible gifts include units of a mutual fund, certain prescribed debt obligations, or certified ecologically sensitive land.

In 2019, the RMC Alumni Association launched the Battle of the Classes Challenge, an initiative designed to rally support for the Colleges across all projects while recognizing each Class’s cumulative giving.
