Every year, the RMC and RMC Saint-Jean Sandhurst team represent Canada on the international stage through their participation in two major competitions in Mexico and the USA.
The Sandhurst Competition is a two-day skills competition and typically includes approximately 43 kilometers of navigation across difficult terrain, weapons handling, rifle marksmanship, combat swim (in full gear), trauma care / first aid, problem solving and leadership challenges.
Military academies from around the world participate in the prestigious annual Sandhurst competition, which dates back to 1967. RMC has an exemplary record at the competition, having placed first four times since 2006.
The teams train twice daily and on almost every weekend to sharpen skills in running, rucking, first aid, shooting, navigation, and many more events. Money allocated to the teams provide them with the ability to purchase vital training equipment which helps set them apart from our international allies.
The teams are supported by regular funding through the Class of 1964, and have also received, over the past few years, enhanced funding from the Class of 1969.
In 2026 the RMC team placed 4th amongst 48 participating teams from 15 countries, and RMC Saint-Jean placing 9th overall. RMC also won the following awards:
- Sandhurst International Cup – First Place International Team
- Sandhurst Medallion – First through Fifth Place overall (RMC finishing 4th overall)
- Physical Endurance Award – Fastest Ruck Time
