Friends of the Canadian War Museum invite you to their speakers series on Thursday 22 October from 1:30-3:00pm in Atelier Room C and D for a presentation in English on Group Captain John Braham, DSO, DFC, AFC, CD.
Group Captain John Braham, DSO, DFC, AFC, CD was the most decorated fighter pilot in the RAF during the Second World War and the fifth ranked RAF ace. He was also a prisoner of war and, after the War, eventually transferred to the RCAF, flying CF-100s. His story is one of incredible accomplishments and harrowing twists and turns. Here is your opportunity to come and learn more about this incredible aviator from his Son, an accomplished military officer in his own right and a long time member of the Friends.
Guest Speaker – Capt. (N) (Ret’d) Michael Braham, CD CMR RMC 1965
Captain(N) Ret’d Michael Braham, CD emigrated from England to Canada with his family in 1952. He is a graduate of RMC and an accomplished Sea Logistics Officer, serving in both Surface Combatants and Submarines. His Staff appointments included NATO Headquarters, Brussels and National Defence Headquarters here in Ottawa. On retirement from the CAF, he continued to work as a Public Servant for the next 20 years. Not one to be idle in retirement, he then turned to volunteering and has received several significant commendations for this phase of his life, including the Sovereigns Volunteer Medal and an Ontario provincial award for his volunteer work at the Diefenbunker.
