Alumni Spotlight: Rob Francis (RMC 2000)—Service, Leadership, Impact

Rob Francis (RMC 2000) has built a leadership career defined by service, learning, and impact. Since graduating from the Royal Military College of Canada, Rob has led in demanding environments where performance, trust, and sound judgement are essential, first as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and later as a senior executive and leadership-development entrepreneur.

Over 20 years in the CAF, Rob served in several Canadian warships and held leadership roles at sea and ashore, developing teams that could execute under pressure while maintaining accountability and cohesion. He later led the Office of Personnel Selection at Canadian Forces Base Halifax, where he helped guide talent decisions and reinforced the importance of selecting, developing, and supporting people as a core leadership responsibility.

Rob returned to RMC as an Associate Professor of Leadership and Psychology, teaching Organizational Behaviour and leadership-related subjects while mentoring future officers and translating operational experience into practical, evidence-based leadership lessons. He holds an MSc in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and an MBA from Saint Mary’s University, reflecting a continued commitment to pairing lived experience with rigorous study.

After transitioning to the private sector, Rob brought his mission-focused approach to senior executive roles, including Vice-President of Talent at Medcan and Chief Operating Officer at ReGen Scientific. In these positions, he led teams in fast-paced, client-focused environments and was recognized for building operating discipline, clarifying priorities, strengthening accountability, and enabling teams to deliver consistent results through change.

Today, as President of The Canadian Leadership Company, Rob works with executives, teams, and organizations across Canada to design and deliver immersive leadership development that is practical, challenging, and built to last. He is the director and lead facilitator of Leadership Under Fire, an intensive experience designed to push participants beyond their comfort zones and develop resilient leadership behaviours that translate directly back to the workplace.

Rob also contributes through community leadership, including service on the board of the Vimy Foundation. With pride and appreciation, we celebrate Rob’s continued leadership.
