Eva Martinez, RMC Class of 1993 and Vice-President of the RMC Alumni Atlantic Branch, was recently named as one of the recipients of the Pepper Pod ELLE-vation Award<\/p>\n
The Pepper Pod\u2019s ELLE-vation Awards recognize the achievements of women from the Canadian veteran, military and RCMP community who have supported, empowered and lifted women around them. This award celebrates women from diverse backgrounds, ranks, and stages of career who go out of their way to be a champion of other women.<\/p>\n
An ELLE-vation woman is an extraordinary woman who celebrates sisters, empowers souls and raises the spirits of other amazing women. She is a leader, mentor, ally, coach, game-changer, role model and everyday hero who elevates others with compassion, confidence and commitment.<\/p>\n
Eva has devoted her career to creating opportunities for women in aerospace and beyond. As a leader with Women in Aerospace Canada she connected women from top floor to shop floor and expanded the network across the Atlantic provinces, strengthening women\u2019s visibility in the sector.<\/p>\n
In 1997, Eva became Canada\u2019s first female United Nations Military Observer, serving in Guatemala with an international contingent overseeing a ceasefire. As the only woman on the mission, she fought to prove her place and now shares her story to inspire others to break barriers and refuse to remain on the sidelines.<\/p>\n
Deeply committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, Eva has advised foreign militaries on integrating women into their ranks. Her impact has been recognized with many honours, including the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee Medal.<\/p>\n
